Supco WF287 Refrigerator Water Filter Cartridge, 3-Pack

Filter fits, but specs are questionable
Yes, this filter is a lot cheaper than the name brand, and yes, it does fit as promised (at least for the GE MWF filter). That aside, the quality is questionable. For one thing, the product doesn't come with specifications on what it filters or how well--the GE OEM model does. So other than a vague statement on the box that it filters turbidity and chlorine, that's it. Based on taste of the water, we're not sure it's filtering everything. And I'm doubtful that it will last as long as the GE version. Note that it doesn't claim to be an exact replacement for the GE version but rather, "can replace."

I'm also worried about quality control. Each filter comes in an individual box, and those were falling apart because of weak glue. Did I mention these are made in China?

We'll see how long these last, but my guess is the per-unit savings will be lost in going through the filters more rapidly, and, as I said, we're not sure the water is being filtered all...

Found the specs, very very similar to original GE filter
I wanted to know the specs on the aquafresh supco filter compared to the GE model. Both filters use the same carbon block technology.

Comparing the two specs, out of the 8 categories I could compare, aquafresh was less than <1% better in asbestos, mercury, and carbofuran. Aquafresh and ge tied on lead and lindane. GE was less than 1% better in atrazine, benzine, and chlorine.

Supco's NSF certification is pending according to their site listed below.

Here are the contaminant percentages for the aquafresh:
99.78% of 1,4 dichlorobenzene
98.32% of 2, 4-D
99.34% of Alachlor
99.3% of Lead
99.92% of Asbestos
99% of Lindane
94.22% of Atrazine
94.7% of Mercury
96.51% of Benzene
99.10% of Turbidity
98.78% of Carbofuran
97.60% of Particulates
97% of chlorine
99.99% of cysts

I really like these filters
I typically don't like to use after-market or third-party suppliers for parts. In the past I've always used the factory MWF filter on my GE Profile refrigerator. However, I didn't like paying $45 at home depot for one of these filters. So I decided to give these Aquafresh Replacement filters a try. For less than half the price per filter I figured it was worth a shot. Physically they are similar in size to the MWF, but they have a slightly different shape. I've only used one so far, but it installed easily and fit nicely on the filter hub. The water pressure through the filter (at the spout) was great and all else seems normal. One thing I noticed was that there was a small, clear washer that was loose in the filter package. This washer needed to be placed into the opening on top of the filter so that it seals tightly against the filter hub. Some reviews for these filters mention that they leak. I haven't had that problem at all, not one drop. I think the people who...
