Great little toaster oven
Hamilton Beach apparently listens to customer feedback. This new version has a taller oven compartment. They say you can now bake a potato in it (although I haven't tried that yet). And the sliding toaster slot cover seals better; the top of the oven seems evenly warm, with no extra heat escaping from the slot. I also haven't had any issues with toast falling into the oven cavity or jamming. The sides of the toaster section hold the bread slices firmly in place. Overall We are very pleased with the 22720 Toastation, it does what it's supposed to do.
I'm buying another model - hope I'm happier with it!
I have owned the toaster for about 2.5 years and it works, takes up little space, and looks fine. I have two complaints with the toaster aspect: the single long slot doesn't hold two slices of toast if you buy the whole grain type, like Pepperidge Farm, HealthNut, etc.; secondly the apparatus that holds the toast when you push the lever down causes the bread to bend, which in turn causes uneven browning and toast that isn't flat. I've even had the slice of bread fall into the oven part. For the price, size, and unique functionality, it's not a bad appliance, but I want better toast. I've only used the oven part a couple of times and it worked fine. I also like the fact that you can cancel the toasting and it will pop up immediately. Since you can see the toast through the clear glass door of the oven, this is a nice feature. If you are particular about how brown you like the toast and you don't use the wider bread, you may be very happy. I hope this helps!
Poor quality
Switch to adjust between toast and oven function jammed-you can't turn on the oven unless the switch is fully in the oven position and the toaster lid won't open unless the switch is fully in the toast position. It is a small toaster oven which is nice as it doesnt take up a lot of counter space however, it can only bake one slice of pizza at a time.
